Chaffetz to invite Comey to testify
House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) says he’s planning to invite former FBI Director James Comey to testify publicly next week.
“Officially noticed a hearing for next Wed at 9:30am ET with former FBI Dir Comey. But I still need to speak with him…evidently has a new [phone number],” Chaffetz tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

Chaffetz has scheduled the hearing for next Wednesday but has not yet issued the invitation. The chairman has been unable to connect with the director, according to a committee aide.
{mosads}The New York Times on Tuesday reported that President Trump pressed Comey to “let go” of the FBI investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, citing a memo written by Comey.
Chaffetz, who recently announced he is retiring from Congress at the end of his term, indicated Tuesday that he would be open to issuing subpoenas for a memo.
“.@GOPoversight is going to get the Comey memo, if it exists. I need to see it sooner rather than later. I have my subpoena pen ready,” he tweeted.
