Investigators with special counsel Robert Mueller’s office on Wednesday interviewed Kristin Davis, the former prostitution mogul who went to prison for her ties to former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D).
Davis, dubbed the “Manhattan Madam,” voluntarily met with federal investigators regarding her relationship with longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone, CNN reported Friday.
{mosads}The network noted that it is unclear what the focus of her interview was or how she is connected to Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, including possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.
Four sources familiar with the situation told the network that investigators expressed interest in having Davis testify before a grand jury regarding her decade-old ties with Stone.
The special counsel’s office and an attorney for Davis declined to comment to CNN.
Davis once operated a high-end Manhattan prostitution ring that counted Spitzer among its clients. Davis, CNN reported, was not tied to the prostitution service that led to his resignation a decade ago.
Davis went to prison on a two-year sentence for selling prescription pills to government informants. She was released in 2016, The New York Daily News reported.
Davis has a close personal relationship with Stone, who is her child’s godfather.
Stone was a also Davis’s campaign strategist on her unsuccessful 2010 run for New York governor.
Another associates of Stone, Andrew Miller, served as her campaign manager.
A federal judge on Thursday ordered Miller to testify before a grand jury in Mueller’s probe, making him the third ex-Stone associate to be involved in the investigation.
Mueller’s team has been probing Stone’s possible contact with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during the presidential race, CNN reported.
Stone has not been charged in the probe but acknowledged to Hill.TV last month that it’s a “possibility” he will be indicted in Mueller’s ongoing investigation.
