Former Oklahoma City Thunder employee pleads guilty to illegal demonstration during Capitol riot

An ex-employee of the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge on Wednesday for her role in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, after her former employees turned her in to authorities.

CNN reported that Danielle Doyle, 37, pleaded guilty to illegally demonstrating inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, and said she would pay $500 in restitution for the harm done to the building that day.

Other rioters who did not engage in violence or destruction in the building were offered a similar deal by prosecutors, according to the network.

Prosecutors were able to identify Doyle after two of her former coworkers from the Oklahoma City Thunder recognized her in a video from the riot and reported her to the FBI, CNN reported.

Staff members for the team reportedly passed around video of a clip that featured Doyle inside the Capitol building.

In one surveillance video reviewed by the FBI, Doyle is seen climbing through a window to enter the inside of the Capitol building, according to Justice Department documents.

Doyle reportedly worked for the Thunder from 2010 until 2020 in ticket sales. The team told CNN that she resigned from her post in March.

Doyle was charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building, violent entry and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building, according to Justice Department documents.

According to CNN’s count, fifteen other rioters have pleaded guilty so far for charges related to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Democratic leaders announced on Wednesday that the special congressional committee investigating the Capitol attack will hold its first hearing on July 27.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has already named eight lawmakers to the 13-member panel: seven Democrats and Republican Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.).

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is now tasked with submitting recommendations for the remaining five spots. Pelosi, however, has veto power over his selections.
