Public Safety Alliance says FCC white paper ‘built on conjecture’

PSA wants a specific block of
spectrum, the D-Block, devoted to first responders.

The FCC says its plan, which
mirrors draft legislation from House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman
(D-Calif.), achieves the same result at a lower cost by auctioning off that
spectrum to commercial providers.

Both sides have the goal of
helping police officers and firemen communicate in emergencies using mobile
devices.
