FCC’s Baker: Debating ‘spectrum crisis’ misses point
That prompted the ire of wireless companies. AT&T fired back with a blog post called “Getting Real About Spectrum.” The wireless association CTIA wrote one as well called “Global Spectrum Conspiracy…Really?!?”
In her remarks, Baker confirmed that networks are facing a crunch.
“Today’s networks are already strained to capacity, and that is before the mobile evolution truly begins,” she said. “We need to address our policies to mitigate spectrum exhaustion and the profound impact it will have on mobile broadband users.”
For proof about these strains, she pointed to the renowned service woes of AT&T customers. “Ask anyone with an iPhone,” she said.
