{mosads}Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) said in a statement that he is “thrilled” to have Markey on his panel.
“He brings thirty-seven years of experience in the House, where he became renowned for his tough but fair approach to consumer protection issues,” Rockefeller said.
He praised Markey, the former co-chairman of the Bipartisan Congressional Privacy Caucus, for sharing his commitment to giving consumers more control over their personal information.
He also noted Markey’s support for E-Rate, the FCC program that subsidizes Internet service in schools and libraries.
“I look forward to partnering with Sen. Markey to advance these issues, and so many more, that will make life better for millions of Americans now and in the future,” Rockefeller said.
