“Recent lawsuits and press accounts have shown that wireless consumers are already experiencing some of the same problems with cramming that have plagued landline consumers for years,” Rockefeller said.
The FTC’s daylong forum features remarks from consumer protection bureau chief David Vladeck along with a number of state and federal prosecutors, law enforcement offficials and consumer advocates.
Rockefeller praised the FTC and state attorneys general for bringing enforcement action against companies that engage in cramming and said the practices learned by landline phone companies can be applied to the wireless space.
