Regulators approve Level 3-Global Crossing merger

Although Internet traffic has grown dramatically in recent years, both companies struggled to use excess capacity that had been built up during the dot-com boom.

“Finding no significant risk of competitive harm, and finding that the transaction was in the public interest, the merger was approved without conditions,” an FCC spokesman said.
