BlackBerry outage in U.S. caused by backlog of data, company says

Yach said all of the backlogged messages will be sent once service is restored.

“Our global teams are working around the clock to restore and stabilize our service,” he said.

RIM plans to launch a full investigation into the root cause of the failure once service is restored.

The disruption has caused considerable consternation on Capitol Hill as many aides and lawmakers have been unable to send and receive messages.
