Trade commission rules for Apple in patent case

{mosads}The commission ruled against Apple’s claims that the phones violate several other of its patents.

President Obama’s trade representative, Ron Kirk, could overrule the decision.

“We are very pleased with the determination and we respect it,” Grace Lei, HTC’s general counsel, said in a statement, noting that the commission ruled in HTC’s favor in most of the patent claims.

She said the feature that was found to violate Apple’s patent is a “small” part of the user experience. “HTC will completely remove it from all of our phones soon,” she said.

Steve Jobs accused Google of ripping off the iPhone’s technology for its Android system, according to Walter Isaacson’s biography of the late Apple co-founder.

“I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this,” Jobs told Isaacson.
