The Wikipedia page of former President George W. Bush has been edited 45,862 times, the most of any English language page in the 15-year history of the online encyclopedia.
To mark the 15th anniversary of Wikipedia, the group that helps manage the site rounded up a list of the most-edited English-version pages going back to its creation in 2001.
{mosads}Bush’s page includes 447 references that span everything from his controversial foreign policy in the wake of 9/11 to his public perception and post-presidency painting hobby.
Bush’s page won the title of most edits, narrowly beating out a page that lists all of World Wrestling Entertainment’s personnel. President Obama’s wikipedia page ranked ninth on the list, with 24,706 edits.
The analysis reveals that Wikipedia editors get political every four years during the presidential elections.
Bush’s page was the most edited in 2004, then again in 2005, the year Hurricane Katrina happened. In 2008, then-GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s page was the second-most edited.
Wikipedia is one of the most-visited websites on the Internet, with about 18 billion page views per month.
A Pew Research analysis noted that some of the most popular pages currently include a mix of current events, technology and entertainment. Pew found some of the most visited pages reference the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Facebook, Google, “Star Wars,” “Game of Thrones” and a list of Bollywood films.
