FCC’s Genachowski to become fellow at Aspen Institute

Walter Isaacson, the institute’s president and CEO, said that Genachowski “typifies the kind of leadership and human values that the Aspen Institute stands for.” 

In his four-year tenure as chairman, Genachowski focused on expanding broadband Internet access. He also enacted net-neutrality rules on Internet providers and blocked AT&T’s attempt to buy T-Mobile.  

Candidates to succeed Genachowski as FCC chief include venture capitalist Tom Wheeler; Karen Kornbluh, former ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development; Larry Strickling, the head of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration; and FCC Commissioners Jessica Rosenworcel and Mignon Clyburn.
