Tech trade group head steps down

{mosads}“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as TechNet’s President and CEO,” Ramsey said in a statement. “This was not an easy decision, but after roughly two decades of leading national organizations, I’ve decided to join an exciting private sector endeavor while at the same time continuing to serve on academic and nonprofit boards.”

“We will miss Rey’s leadership at TechNet and we are honored to have worked with him,” said John Chambers, chairman and CEO of Cisco as well as TechNet’s co-chairman. “We wish Rey all the best in his new endeavors.”

Alix Burns, president of Bay Bridge Strategies and a former TechNet vice president, has been named the trade group’s acting CEO. Burns will help run the group and will work with TechNet’s executive council as they search for a new CEO.

TechNet had been in discussions with the Information Technology Industry Council to merge the two groups yet those talks were called off in November 2012.
