Tech venture capital firm endorses Clinton

A New York-based venture capital firm that has invested in companies like Twitter, Tumblr and Zynga has endorsed Hillary Clinton.

Union Square Ventures (USV) on Tuesday made the first endorsement of the fund’s 13-year history, backing Clinton in a blog post that criticized Donald Trump’s immigration plan.

{mosads}“Shutting out the world is not an option. We don’t think it’s desirable, or even possible, to return to an earlier era when America was less diverse, or the economy was less global,” the firm wrote.

“There is no wall big enough to protect us from a changing climate or the unintended consequences of new technologies like artificial intelligence or DNA manipulation.”

The blog post did not mention Trump by name, but contrasted him with Clinton.

“Of the two major party candidates, we believe that only Hillary Clinton has the temperament and experience to lead us at home and represent us abroad.”

USV isn’t the first venture capital firm to weigh in on the 2016 election. In August, CRV (formerly known as Charles River Ventures) turned its homepage into a graphic reading: “F–k Trump.”

The image linked to a statement detailing their disdain for the GOP presidential nominee, but did not endorse Hillary Clinton.

Trump has gotten little traction in Silicon Valley. Peter Thiel is one of the only major venture capitalists to publicly back Trump, but hasn’t donated to his campaign.

Last month, private equity CEO Saul Fox hosted a fundraiser for Trump in the Bay Area.
