Zuckerberg after Trump’s win: Let’s work ‘to make the world better’
Facebook founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg issued a careful response on Wednesday night to the election of Donald Trump.
“This work is bigger than any presidency and progress does not move in a straight line,” he said.
Zuckerberg noted that this was the first election after the birth of his daughter, Max, adding, “Let’s go work even harder.”
Zuckerberg declined to publicly endorse a candidate during the election, though he took a veiled shot at Trump’s hard-line position on immigration.
His company has also come under criticism for its handling of fake and hoax stories during the election.
Facebook has long pushed to be seen as politically neutral in the way it distributes content, for fear of turning off users who might believe the platform is biased against their beliefs.
The company will also likely press its case on policy issues before a Republican-controlled Congress and the Trump administration.
