White House veteran joins NBCUniversal as general counsel
She will join the company on Sept. 3 and be based in New York.
{mosads}Harris is stepping into the role that was long held by Rick Cotton, who will now serve as senior counselor for IP protection. Cotton has served as general counsel for NBCUniversal since 2004 and announced plans to step down from the role last May.
Cotton publicly advocated on behalf of the company for the Stop Online Piracy Act last year and has lobbied for tougher intellectual property legislation.
Cotton will work with the anti-piracy team at NBCUniversal and Comcast on policy and advocacy initiatives in his new role.
