Google CEO voices support for staff after YouTube HQ shooting

Google’s CEO said Tuesday that the company would provide support for the victims of a shooting at YouTube headquarters that left three employees injured.

“I know a lot of you are in shock right now,” Sundar Pichai said in a statement. “Over the coming days, we will continue to provide support to help everyone in our Google family heal from this unimaginable tragedy.”

His statement came hours after a shooter opened fire on YouTube’s San Bruno, Calif., headquarters Tuesday afternoon, putting the campus on lockdown.

The suspected shooter, whom law enforcement identified as a woman, was found dead from what authorities believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The attack left three employees injured: a 36-year-old man, who was in critical condition; a 32-year-old woman in serious condition; and a 27-year-old woman in fair condition.

President Trump has been briefed on the shooting. He offered his “thoughts and prayers” to “everybody” involved in a tweet on Tuesday.
