Musk calls Trump mug shot post ‘next-level’ after former president returns to ‘X’ platform

Shortly after former President Trump returned to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, with a tweet featuring his mug shot Thursday, Elon Musk responded in a quote tweet.

“Next-level,” Musk’s Thursday night post read.

Musk, the current owner of X, reinstated the former president’s account in November after it was banned in the wake of the Jan 6., 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Trump’s post of his mug shot on X, featuring the words “Election Interference!” and “Never Surrender!” along with a link to the Trump Save America PAC, marked the first time in more than two years he has posted on the platform.

The mug shot is a result of Trump surrendering to Fulton County, Ga., authorities Thursday after being charged alongside 18 co-defendants in District Attorney Fani Willis’s case related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

“They insisted on a mug shot, and I agreed to do that,” Trump told Fox News Digital after his surrender. “This is the only time I’ve ever taken a mug shot.”

“It is not a comfortable feeling — especially when you’ve done nothing wrong,” he added.
