YouTube personality MrBeast became the most-subscribed creator account on the video platform over the weekend, surpassing T-Series, an Indian music channel.
Jimmy Donaldson, the 26-year-old behind the MrBeast account, confirmed over the weekend that he reached more than 266.7 million subscribers, taking the title from T-Series. As of Monday, MrBeast’s account had more than 270 million subscribers, while T-Series remained at around 266 million.
MrBeast’s channel, which has uploaded videos to YouTube since 2012, is known for its over-the-top stunts, drastic challenges and cash prize giveaways with his followers. His videos often receive more than 100 million views.
“After 6 years we have finally avenged Pewdiepie,” Donaldson wrote Sunday on the social platform X, in reference to YouTube creator Felix Kjellberg, also known as PewDiePie, who had the most subscribers until T-Series took the title in 2019.
Since the inception of his channel, Donaldson has grown his business ventures beyond YouTube, starting a virtual restaurant called MrBeast Burger, which features several burger-themed meals available for delivery across the U.S.
He also owns and sells “Feastables,” a chocolate brand and an online merch brand, ShopMrBeast.
Donaldson told Time magazine last February he brings in between $600 million and $700 million in revenue each year but does not consider himself rich due to his reinvestments.
“Each video does a couple million in ad revenue, a couple million in brand deals,” he told Time. “I’ve reinvested everything to the point of — you could claim — stupidity, just believing that we would succeed. And it’s worked out.”
Earlier this year, MrBeast announced he was filming the “largest game show in history” with Amazon Prime Video that will be released on the platform and involve more than 1,000 contestants and a $5 million prize.
