Actress Sharon Stone on Monday reported that the dating app Bumble had blocked her profile, saying users thought “it couldn’t possibly” really be her.
“I went on the @bumble dating sight and they closed my account,” she tweeted. “Some users reported that it couldn’t possibly be me! Hey @bumble, is being me exclusionary?”
The “Basic Instinct” actress shared a screenshot that showed her account was blocked because Bumble “received several reports about your profile being fake.”
Bumble later unblocked Stone and emphasized the importance of user verification. Bumble asks users to verify their profiles by sending a selfie through the app.
“Looks like our users thought you were too good to be true,” Bumble said in a tweet. “We’ve made sure that you won’t be blocked again. We hope that everyone in our community takes a sec to verify their profiles.”
Bumble apologized for the mistake.
“Sharon Stone is back on Bumble!” a Bumble representative told The Hill. “Our apologies for the confusion as we’re so honored that Ms. Stone wants to be a part of the Hive.
“However, being the icon that she is, we can understand how so many of our users felt it was too good to be true once they noticed her profile wasn’t photo verified. Photo verification is just one of the many ways to connect with confidence on Bumble. In light of our mixup with Sharon Stone, we’d like to extend an invitation for her to come to Austin and allow us to host her at the hive for a few hours of profile prep and great food!”
Stone has occasionally spoken out about politics, supporting then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016 and criticizing President Trump.
“I think the ever-changing muskrat on his head speaks worlds about his confidence,” she said at the time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She added “it wouldn’t be funny [if he became president].”
Bumble editorial director Clare O’Connor tweeted to Stone, “Hope you find your honey.”
No word on whether the 61-year-old Stone is using any other dating apps or if she joined for a new year’s resolution. But now that her Bumble profile is back online, if Stone wants to investigate a potential match, she’ll be making the first move thanks to Bumble’s women-chat-first policy.
