Twitter said Thursday that there was no evidence of a security breach or hack after the platform had limited functionality for more than an hour.

“Twitter has been down for many of you and we’re working to get it back up and running for everyone,” Twitter support said. “We had some trouble with our internal systems and don’t have any evidence of a security breach or hack.”

Issues with the platform began arising about 5:30 p.m., with users not being able to tweet or see posts on their feeds.

Direct message functionality was sporadic, but appears to be working as of 7:25 p.m.

Many users still cannot tweet.
