Tech CEOs try to predict who’ll win tomorrow’s tech race (USA Today) — Jon Swartz reports, “USA TODAY asked more than a dozen high-profile CEOs, over several months, to reflect on this slice of time and to handicap who is best positioned to adapt and prosper. Though their opinions vary widely, they agree the tech industry dictates that they relentlessly innovate, revamp business plans every few months or acquire key technologies.”

‘No indication’ of cyberattack in Wall St. Plunge (Hillicon Valley) — Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan said Sunday that the White House does not believe Thursday’s Wall Street nosedive was the result of a cyberattack. … The market was already shaky because of the rapidly unfolding financial crisis in Greece last week, but trader error is also being investigated in the nearly 1,000-point plunge.

Comcast plans to sell TV station (WSJ) — From Shira Ovide: “Comcast Corp. said it plans to sell one of NBC Universal’s three local TV stations in Los Angeles as the companies try to win regulatory approval for their proposed merger. … NBC Universal owns the NBC station in Los Angeles, a station affiliated with the company’s Spanish-language network Telemundo and an independent Spanish-language TV station, KWHY.”

Consumer Watchdog targets Google (WaPo) — Cecilia Kang has the store on John Simpson, formerly a journalist and now a member of Consumer Watchdog. She reports: “He’s no longer in the newspaper business, having lost two jobs during
“restructurings,” he says, scooping the air with curled fingers. Now
Simpson works for a nonprofit group called Consumer Watchdog, where his
singular focus is turning up the regulatory heat on Google. With its
brand appeal, he says, Google is an ideal target.”
