Spanish ‘ghost airport’ for sale

A Spanish airport that has been used so infrequently that it is referred to as a “ghost airport” is being sold for $150 million, CNN reports.

The Ciudad Real International Airport, which cost $1.5 billion to build, is being sold cheaply because of an economic downtown that was triggered by the collapse of a Spanish real estate bubble, according to the report.

{mosads}The airport was Spain’s first private airport. It was built to handle 10 million passengers per year and has a 4,000-meter long runway.

The airport went out of business in 2012 after its number of airlines dwindled to just a few private carriers, the report said.
