American Airlines employees have voted to use a new logo on its planes. The logo was unveiled by the company just before its merger with US Airways was announced, The Dallas Morning News reports.
The vote was held after the airlines finalized their merger in December.
The winning logo, which includes red and blue stripes designed to look like the U.S. flag, received 52 percent of the vote, according to the paper.

American CEO Doug Parker said in a letter to the airline’s employees that he was glad the logo issue was settled.
“After three weeks, much conversation and more than 60,000 employees voting, we now have an answer to the question about what will be painted on the tails of our aircraft,” he wrote. “It was very close but the majority has spoken and the new flag tail will proudly represent American Airlines — and all of us — for years to come.”
