Graham’s flight makes emergency landing
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) tweeted Monday about his flight back to Washington making an emergency landing in South Carolina.
Graham was returning to the capital from Greenville, S.C., when he said his plane had to return to its point of origin.
“Interesting day — just made a return-flight emergency landing at GSP,” Graham tweeted.
{mosads}Graham did not identify the airline he was flying, but he said the problems began almost immediately after the flight took off.
“About 5 minutes into today’s flight from Greenville to Washington, I and my other passengers noticed the engine making strange sound,” he said in another tweet.
“Not long afterwards, the pilot declared an emergency and we headed back to the airport,” Graham continued. “We safely returned with fire trucks and first responders at the ready.”
Graham said he was thankful for airport officials and first responders who met his plane in Greenville.
Lawmakers are scheduled to return to Washington this week after their traditional Christmas holiday break. Senators were voting Monday night on Jessica Yellin’s confirmation to head the Federal Reserve and on a procedural vote on federal unemployment benefits.
