Airline dismisses ex-senator’s complaint
United Airlines dismissed a former congressman’s complaint Thursday as he went on a Twitter rampage about how he was switched to the back of a flight from first class.
Former Senate Majority Leader
Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) first tweeted Thursday afternoon at United, saying “miserable service again” on his flight from San Francisco.
United Air @United miserable service again. SanFran sold me and confirmed a seat then took it away: Flt 1486 today

United responded shortly after on Twitter, explaining they can’t guarantee a specific seat.
@bfrist Hi Bill, we’ll do all to accommodate your seating requests, but we do not guarantee specific assignments. ^JT 1/2

@bfrist Every airline reserves the right to adjust seating for operational purposes. We regret the confusion. Thanks for flying with us.^JT

Frist said he was sent from first class to a seat in the very last row of the plane next to a bathroom “that’s in heavy rotation.”
.@united I booked a first class seat and now I’m in the very last row next to a bathroom that’s in heavy rotation.

Frist then confirmed that the plane’s toilets work.
I can confirm that the toilets on this @united flight work! My seat vibrates with each passenger’s visit!

I also appreciate what @united is doing to keep the plane’s weight down. Bathroom walls this thin have got to be fuel-saving!

Frist indicated he was sitting too close to his fellow passengers.
If anyone gets this intimate w/fellow @United passengers, might as well be surgeon. Though maybe should have introduced myself first.

Then, he wanted coffee grounds.
Pro tip: ask your @united flight attendant for a cup of coffee grounds. It might help, and if not, placebo effect?

It appears Frist was in San Francisco for J.P. Morgan’s annual healthcare conference.
