Dallas airport transit extension ahead of schedule

An extension of Dallas, Texas’s DART Light Rail system to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is scheduled to open ahead of schedule, the Dallas Morning News reports.

The airport station was scheduled to open in December, but officials have said it could be open for passengers in September, according to the report.

{mosads}Dallas officials have long hoped for a connection between its light rail system and main airport.

Airport officials said the direct connection with public transit is expected to be especially popular with international travelers, who they said are used to being able to take trains directly from airports.

“They’re so used to having that service,” airport CEO Sean Donohue told the paper.
