Baseball player charters 787 ‘Dreamliner’

A Japanese baseball player chartered a Boeing 787 “Dreamliner” airline to fly to America for his debut with New York Yankees, the Associated Press reports.

The player, Masahiro Tanaka, leased the plane from Japan Airlines at a cost for $200,000, according to the report. Tanaka has agreed to a $155 million contract with the Yankees.

{mosads}The “Dreamliner” airline had a rough launch in 2012 and early 2013. Several of the planes that were released under the moniker suffered from battery problems that produced smoke and at least in one case, a fire.

The airplane was temporarily grounded by the Federal Aviation Administration for three months while Boeing worked out the kinks.

Japan Airlines was operating one of the early 787s that was involved in a battery incident.
