LaHood joins electric bus company board

Former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has joined the board of directors of an electric bus manufacturing company.

The company, known as Proterra, announced the association with LaHood on Tuesday.

The former Transportation secretary is exhibiting “a solid show of support for the clean transit initiatives and belief in the future of [electric vehicle] transportation,” the Greenville, S.C.-based company said.

{mosads}Proterra describes itself as the “the only U.S.-based manufacturer of EV transit buses” and “the only manufacturer to have buses in revenue service in the United States or to have passed stringent federally-required Altoona testing.”

LaHood has associated with other transportation groups since leaving the Obama administration last year, including most recently the Washington, D.C.-based Building America’s Future group.
