Spirit Airlines CEO dares rivals to take ALS challenge
Spirit Airlines CEO Ben Baldanza challenged rival airline leaders to take the popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge after participating in the viral fundraising campaign himself.
Spirit tweeted a video of Baldanza being dosed with ice water with messages directed to the CEOs of JetBlue, American and Delta airlines.
“.@Delta Our CEO Ben Baldanza challenges your CEO Richard Anderson to take the #IceBucketChallenge for ALS,” the airline said in one of its tweets.
{mosads}The ice bucket challenge involves asking people to either post a video to a social media website of themselves being hit with cold water or making a donation to a charity related to finding a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, which is more commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
The videos have gone viral as celebrities and politicians have participated.
The Washington, D.C.-based ALS Association said the ice bucket challenge has helped raise $15.6 million for ALS research and brought 307,598 new donors to the group.
