Airline to weigh passengers before flights

Passengers on at least one Uzbekistani airline will have to step on the scale before they step on their flights, according to a CNN report

Uzbekistan Airlines has said that it will weigh passengers and their carry-on luggage in an effort to determine the amount of weight their planes will be carrying, the network is reporting. 

The airline said it is within its rights to weigh passengers because of international aviation rules about airplane weights. 

{mosads}”According to the rules of International Air Transport Association, airlines are obliged to carry out the regular procedures of preflight control passengers weighing with hand baggage to observe requirements for ensuring flight safety,” the airline said in a statement.

The Uzbekistani airline said it will take steps to protect the privacy of passengers that is weighs, according to the report. 

“The weighing record will only contain the corresponding passenger category (i.e. male/female/children),” the company said. “As for the rest, the full confidentiality of results is guaranteed.”
