TSA firing agent for stealing money from passenger’s wallet

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is firing an employee who was arrested for allegedly stealing $61 from a passenger’s wallet at an airport security checkpoint.

The agent, who works at New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, was captured on a security camera taking the passenger’s wallet, according to the report. 

TSA officials said in a statement that was provided to The Hill on Monday afternoon that they are “in the process of terminating this individual for his disgraceful and intolerable behavior.

TSA security officers represent a professional and honorable workforce that is trained to treat passengers and their personal belongings with care and respect.”

The Associated Press reports that the passenger who was the theft victim complained the money was missing after picking up his belongings after going through the security checkpoint. Police were able to identify the agent, who has not yet been named. 

The incident is the latest mishap involving a TSA worker in the New York area. A TSA worker at New York’s LaGuardia Airport was fired recently for allegedly sexually assaulting a passenger in an airport bathroom.
