Pope petitioned to bless DC Metro

Pope Francis is being petitioned to bless the Washington, D.C. Metrorail subway system during his visit to the nation’s capital. 

The petition, launched on the website Change.org, asks the pope to bless the D.C. Metro system “so it actually works.” 

“Dear Pope Francis, our Metro system is having some troubles,” the petition reads. “All of DC would be grateful if you could find the time to bless it during your upcoming stay. Maybe a Papal Blessing is just what it needs.” 

{mosads}The petition’s creator, D.C. resident Noah Rosenheck, said on the website “at this point, I’m willing to try anything.” 

The petition comes as the pope is arriving in D.C. for a three-day visit that will include a Mass service and a speech to a joint session of Congress. 

The petition has been signed by 1,412 people as of Tuesday afternoon.
