The memorial, which is located between the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials on the Mall, is scheduled to be formally dedicated Sunday, on the 48th anniversary of King’s famous “I Have A Dream” speech in Washington.
President Obama is scheduled to be among the expected 250,000 attendees. He will deliver a speech commemorating the opening of the memorial.
