Schumer raises concerns about ‘real, deadly’ iPhone-shaped gun

A handgun that can be concealed to look like an iPhone is drawing scrutiny from a top Senate Democrat.

{mosads}Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to investigate the controversial gun, according to reports.

“At first glance or even second glance it looks like an iPhone,” Schumer told reporters at a press conference Monday. “Take a closer look and you will see that it’s a real, deadly handgun.”

Schumer previously raised concerns about a cellphone case that was shaped like a gun, a product that could spook people but could not shoot bullets.

Now, he is concerned about the reverse problem: A gun that looks like a cellphone.

“Just like toys that too much look like handguns should not be sold, handguns that look too much like toys should not be sold,” Schumer said.

The cellphone-shaped .380 caliber gun from a Minnesota company known as Ideal Conceal is scheduled to be released later this year, according to the report. It will cost $395.
