Raiders owner calls for release of full report on Washington Football Team investigation

Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis on Wednesday said he believes the NFL should release its full report on the Washington Football Team workplace misconduct investigation. 

“Probably. Yeah, I think that there should be, yeah,” Davis told reporters during the end of NFL owners’ fall league meeting, according to The Washington Post’s Nicki Jhabvala. “Especially with some of the things that were, I guess, charged. I believe so. I think that people deserve [it], especially the people that were victims.”

Davis also voiced his frustration about the “timing issue” with the release of WFT’s investigation, saying that teams should’ve been informed about the findings sooner, according to NFL.com.

“It’s a timing issue,” Davis said. “That’s probably the disappointment that I had. … Well, the fact that they may have known about it a couple of months beforehand and didn’t let us know about that,” Davis said. 

“I spoke with the Commissioner and those things. But I believed if we’d have gotten the information earlier in the summer when they learned about it, it would’ve been a lot easier for everyone involved.”

Davis’s comments come two weeks after leaked emails from the initial investigation which included racist, homophobic and misogynistic language led to the resignation of former Raiders head coach Jon Gruden. 

The leaked email chain, which spans from 2011-2018, involved then-WFT president Bruce Allen and Gruden, who was employed at that time by ESPN as a lead broadcaster for Monday Night Football. 

The league fined the Washington Football Team $10 million in July following its investigation, requiring the team executives to be trained in topics such as bullying and unconscious bias.

Last week, House Committee on Oversight and Reform members Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y) and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL.) sent a letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell asking the league to provide information from its investigation into Washington Football Team.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters Tuesday that the league won’t release the full investigation, saying that WFT owner Dan Snyder has been “held accountable” for his actions, according to an ESPN report.

“I do think he’s been held accountable,” Goodell said. “More importantly, steps were put in place to make sure it doesn’t happen again.” 

Two former WFT employees also wrote to the league’s social justice committee urging them to publicly release the findings of the team’s workplace misconduct report.
