Former President Trump ripped into special counsel Jack Smith over his recently disclosed search warrant for Trump’s account on X, formerly known as Twitter, calling Smith “deranged.”
“How dare lowlife prosecutor, Deranged Jack Smith, breaking into my Twitter account without informing me and, indeed, trying to completely hide this atrocity from me,” Trump posted to Truth Social on Monday. “What could he possibly find out that is not already known.”
Court filings unsealed last week show Smith subpoenaed and obtained a search warrant that ordered X to hand over documents related to Trump’s account, which had been shut down after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. The case also fined X $350,000 for delaying compliance with a court order of the records.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) also acquired a nondisclosure order prohibiting X from disclosing the existence or contents of the search warrant to anyone, including Trump. The case ruling did not go into special detail regarding the search warrant or the subpoena.
“What could he possibly find out that is not already known. Just like the early morning raid of Mar-a-Lago! Why isn’t the DOJ raiding Crooked Joe Biden, the most CORRUPT (and Incompetent!) President in the history of the United States?” Trump continued in his post, in reference to the FBI’s raid of his home in Florida last year, where it found more than 100 classified records.
Trump railed against the subpoena last week following the unsealing of the court filings, claiming the DOJ “secretly attacked,” his account, calling it a “hit,” on his civil rights in a social media post.
Smith’s office has brought two federal cases against Trump: one related to his handling of classified documents after leaving the White House and one regarding his efforts to remain in power after losing the 2020 election.
