Giuliani should be worried about RICO, other charges, Ellis lawyer says

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City Mayor and ally to former president Trump, should be worried about the racketeering charges and 12 other counts he is facing, said an attorney for Jenna Ellis, another former Trump lawyer.

In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Frank Hogue, an attorney representing Ellis in the Georgia 2020 election interference case, said Giuliani faces many “troubles” ahead.

“I think there’s enough for Mayor Giuliani to worry about that wouldn’t have anything to do with Jenna Ellis,” Hogue told the AJC. “I mean, she wouldn’t be a help to him, I don’t think, if she was to be called as a witness. But I think his troubles extend far beyond her.”

Giuliani famously used the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) to crack down on the mob as a prosecutor in New York and is now being prosecuted on RICO charges in Georgia. He has yet to secure a plea deal like Ellis and fellow defendants Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro, also lawyers.

Ellis took a plea deal from prosecutors last week. She accepted five years of probation, 100 hours of community service and was ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution and write a letter of apology to Georgia citizens.

In exchange, Ellis agreed to cooperate with prosecutors going forward, which could make her a potential witness against the former president and Giuliani.

Giuliani’s hearing is set for Dec. 11 in Fulton County, Ga.
