Judge dismisses computer repairman’s defamation claims in Hunter Biden case

A superior court judge in Delaware dismissed a computer repairman’s defamation claims in the Hunter Biden case this week. 

Wilmington computer shop owner John Paul Mac Isaac claimed that he was defamed by Hunter Biden’s statements, news media reports and then-President Biden’s campaign over assertions that Hunter Biden’s computer was stolen or was part of a Russian disinformation plot. 

Hunter Biden’s lawyers argued that President Biden’s son never explicitly mentioned Mac Isaac by name.

Superior court Judge Robert Robinson Jr. sided with Biden’s legal team, according to The Associated Press (AP). Mac Isaac’s attorney, Ronald Poliquin, told the AP that an appeal will be filed. 

“Hunter Biden went on national TV and gaslighted the American public by indicating John Paul Mac Isaac was part of a Russian hoax when he knew it to be false,” Poliquin told the AP. “As the FBI has confirmed, Biden dropped off his laptop at the Mac Shop. Hunter Biden lied and needs to be held accountable.”

The New York Post first published a story about Hunter Biden’s laptop in October 2020, showing emails about President Biden’s son’s foreign business dealings.

Social media platforms Facebook and Twitter restricted the dishing out of links to the Post story shortly after 51 former intelligence officials said in a letter that the emails in the laptop had “the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

The superior court judge also dismissed Biden’s declarations that Mac Isaac invaded his privacy, the AP reported.
