The Obama administration is cooking up a new rule for ovens.
The Department of Energy on Friday sent new efficiency standards for residential conventional cooking products to the White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs for final approval.
The energy conservation standards would measure the efficiency of ovens while they are in use, on standby, and turned off.
{mosads}The rule was originally proposed in June 2015. As proposed, the Energy Department estimates it would cost manufacturers more than $86 million but save consumers as much as $11 billion over 30 years.
The final rule was scheduled to come out this month, but the White House can take up to 90 days to review the efficiency standards before they are finalized.
