Monday’s meeting announcements: CFTC to vote on rules

A bunch of federal commissions and advisory committees will hold meetings in the next few weeks. Here’s what’s happening:

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is holding a meeting on Oct. 30 to discuss its regulatory process and approve several rules. The commission is also meeting on Nov. 5 to talk about more regulations.

{mosads}The State Department’s advisory panel for private international law is meeting on the morning of Nov. 4. A study group will also meet on Nov. 7 to discuss an upcoming international meeting.

On Nov. 5 and 6, chairs of the Energy Department’s site-specific advisory boards will meet in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.

NASA’s subcommittee for planetary protection is meeting in Greenbelt, Md., on Nov. 12 and 13.

On Nov. 12-14, the council for commercial fishing in the Caribbean is meeting at its headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Also those days, the southern Atlantic fishery management council will hold an assessment workshop in North Charleston, S.C.

On Nov. 13, two IRS taxpayer advocacy panels will hold public meetings.

A federal commission for the Susquehanna River is meeting in Harrisburg on Nov. 13.

Also on Nov. 13, the federal council for New England fishing is holding a meeting to discuss scallop harvesting. The meeting will be held in Providence.

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory panel on HIV, hepatitis and other sexually transmitted diseases is holding a conference call on Nov. 13 and 14.

On Nov. 14 and 15, a Bureau of Land Management panel for issues in central and eastern Oregon is meeting.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is holding public hearings in Denver; Albuquerque, N.M.; Sacramento, Calif.; and Pinetop, Ariz., beginning Nov. 19 to discuss its draft decision to take the gray wolf off of the endangered species list.

On Nov. 20, NASA will resume a conference on asteroid initiatives that was postponed during the government shutdown that lasted for 16 days in October.

The Commerce Department’s advisory committee for spectrum management is meeting in Washington on Dec. 13. That day, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration will convene a meeting to discuss lessons learned from the advisory panel process.

Beginning Nov. 21, the Food and Drug Administration will hold meetings in College Park, Md.; Chicago; and Sacramento, Calif., on its new proposed regulations for animal food.

From Jan. 14 to 16, the Transportation Department is holding meetings to discuss a national maritime strategy at its headquarters in Washington.
