Monday’s meeting announcements: EPA council to talk border issues

Advisory councils will get together in the next few weeks to help provide outside advice to federal regulators. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

On Nov. 15, an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) committee tasked with providing advice about issues along the U.S.-Mexico border will hold a teleconference to discuss a report on ecological restoration. 

{mosads}A Department of Energy advisory board for the Savannah River area is meeting in Augusta, Ga., on Nov. 18 and 19. 

A council on transportation statistics is meeting in Washington on Nov. 19.

A 15-member Bureau of Land Management council is meeting in Salida, Colo., on Nov. 20 and 21 to tour sage-grouse habitat and talk about issues in the region. 

The National Marine Fisheries Service is holding a hearing on its proposal to protect habitat for the loggerhead sea turtle on Nov. 21 in Manteo, N.C.

On Nov. 22, a council for mid-Atlantic fishing is meeting in Linthicum, Md., to chat about summer flounder, scup and black sea bass. 

Regulators for fishing in the Caribbean will meet in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, on Nov. 25 to gather input on regulations for three seasonally closed areas. 

The Department of Health and Human Services is hosting a meeting of its committee on blood and tissue safety on Dec. 4 and 5. 

The Food and Drug Administration’s advisory panel on allergenic products is meeting in Silver Spring, Md., on Dec. 11 and 12. 

An EPA panel on clean drinking water is also meeting on Dec. 11 and 12 in Washington. 

On Dec. 12, a review board for accelerating cancer cures is holding a virtual meeting. 

On Dec. 17, the Federal Aviation Administration’s advisory committee for air traffic procedures is getting together in Washington to review air traffic control practices.
