Thursday’s meeting announcements: Volcker rule under discussion

The controversial Volcker Rule, which limits banks’ trading ability, will be one of the many issues before federal agencies and advisory boards at meetings the next few weeks.

Here’s the agenda:

{mosads}The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is meeting in Washington on Dec. 10, and will likely vote to approve a tough version of the so-called Volcker Rule, which limits banks’ ability to make bets with their proprietary funds. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Federal Reserve are also meeting to consider the issue.

Also on Dec. 10, the U.S. International Trade Commission is getting together in Washington to talk about imports of steel nails from China. 

The Legal Services Corp.’s committee for institutional advancement is also meeting on Tuesday, as is the federal council for North American telephone numbers. 

On Dec. 11, an advisory council for the Forest Service, and the Fish and Wildlife Service will hold a teleconference to discuss issues facing western Alaska. 

A federal interagency coordinating committee for autism is holding a conference call on the afternoon of Dec. 13. 

The Forest Service’s advisory board for the Black Hills National Forest is meeting in Rapid City, S.D., on Dec. 18. 

A federal panel on wildlife and hunting conservation is meeting on Jan. 29 and 30 in Washington.
