Workers at three U.S. plants are on strike after three major automakers and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union failed to reach an agreement by Thursday night’s strike deadline.

President Biden is slated to speak this morning about the contract negotiations. The president faces a test with the strike, as he has claimed to be very pro-union as well as very pro-electric vehicle. Biden spoke with the UAW leader and leaders of auto companies the day before the strike started.

The event is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. EDT.
