Former President Trump on Wednesday evening is set to deliver a speech to autoworkers at Drake Enterprises near Detroit, amid a strike by United Autoworkers (UAW).
The speech will occur an hour before the second GOP presidential primary debate, with many speculating Trump is intending to use the event to steal attention away from the debate.
While the GOP candidates on stage will only have a handful of minutes to share their message and stand out, Trump’s rally grants him undivided attention at the center of a pressing, national issue.
The event is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.
