First lady Jill Biden is slated to unveil a holiday ice rink on the White House South Lawn on Wednesday evening.
It wouldn’t be the first time figure skating would be front and center at the White House: In 1980, an ice stage was erected on the South Lawn for a holiday party held by then-President Carter, according to the White House Historical Association.
As part of the debut of the holiday décor this year, the first lady hosted a reception on Monday for military families featuring the cast of the North American tour of the musical “Frozen.”
The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST.
