The House Transportation and Infrastructure aviation subcommittee is holding a hearing Tuesday to address air travel safety concerns.
Federal Aviation Administration chief Mike Whitaker is set to testify before the panel and is expected to make a commitment to close oversight of Boeing, including the deployment of additional departmental resources to the investigation.
The aircraft manufacturer has received public and regulatory scrutiny following a major equipment failure in January, when a door panel became detached while a Boeing 737 Max 9 was flying over Oregon.
The hearing is slated to start at 10 a.m. EST.
