Former President Trump is slated to give remarks at the Libertarian Party’s national convention Saturday in Washington, D.C.

Trump’s remarks come a day after independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy addressed the crowd, questioning the former president’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic while in office. Kennedy argued that the Trump administration violated people’s First Amendment rights when they instituted health guidelines to combat the pandemic.

In a rebuke Saturday, Trump hit back, urging his followers and others not to “waste” their vote on the long-shot candidate and claiming his campaign was failing.

The exchange also follows a request from Kennedy for the two to debate at the convention. The former president’s surprising decision to appear at the event underscores the potential threat Kennedy could have on his changes.

Trump is scheduled to speak at 8 p.m. EDT.
