Watch live: Biden, Trump face off in CNN Presidential Debate

Recorded earlier

Former President Trump and President Biden will face off in person Thursday for the first time in this year’s lead-up to their historic rematch election.

Trump has generally held a slight lead over in Biden most, but not all, recent national polls. Neither candidate has a lock on several swing states, such as Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Other potential battlegrounds — like Georgia, where CNN is hosting the debate — appear to be a longer reach for the Biden camp.

Trump is predicted to hit hard against Biden on the incumbent’s perceived weak record on border control. Biden in turn is expected to try and back Trump into a corner on abortion.

Policy aside, voters will have a chance to judge the candidates’ sharpness of wit and composure.

Coverage of the event begins at 8:30 p.m. EDT.

After the debate, The Hill’s election team will analyze the candidates’ performance in a post-debate show.
