Former President Trump, who formally accepted the GOP nomination for president earlier this week, is holding his first rally since a failed assassination attempt a week ago.

The event in Grand Rapids, Mich., will also mark the first campaign stop where Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) will join the former president. Trump announced Vance as his running mate on the first night of the Republican National Convention earlier this week.

Trump wore a bandage on his ear during the convention, a reminder of the bullet that grazed his ear at a rally outside Pittsburgh last weekend.

The former president is currently leading Biden by just over 2 percentage points in the Great Lakes State. According to the polling index from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Trump has 45.2 percent support to the incumbent’s 43.5 percent. Biden won Michigan in 2020 by less than 155,000 votes.

The event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. EDT.
